Life of Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A)

Jannat ul Baqi

Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) was born on March 4, 625 A.D . He was son of Hazrat Fatima (R.A) and Hazrat Ali (R.A) .He was grand son of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH) .
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) and his brother, Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) enjoyed a high level of education and spiritual and ideological upbringing, which no other person had won next to their grandfather (PBUH), mother and father .
Although they lost both their grandfather and mother at an early age, their upbringing suffered no interruption. Their father, Hazrat Ali (R.A) bin Abi Talib , was alive, throwing his shade over them. There is no doubt that Hazrat Imams Hassan (R.A) and Hussain wound up in the stage of Divine preparation.
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) was certainly the most true worshiper, ascetic and merited man among the people of his time. Whenever Hasrat Imam Hassan (R.A) do his ablution, he would tremble and his face would turn pale.He had certainly gone to Hajj twenty-five times on foot. He shared his property with Allah twice...or three times. When he approached the door of the mosque, he would say: 'O Lord! Your guest is at Your gate. Forgive me my ugly deeds with Your Generosity. When he remembered death , thought of the grave he wept. When Hazrat Imam Hasan (R.A) thought of the Resurrection and Day of Judgment he gasped so deeply and painfully that he fainted because of it.When Hazrat Imam Hasan (R.A) recited the Qur'an and came across a verse addressing the faithful by these words: 'O you who believe…,' he said: 'Here I am, my Lord, here I am.
These are only a few insights into Imam Hasan's generous acts. Such good deeds had the greatest effect in personifying his high Islamic ethics..
His positive role took shape clearly from the moment the Muslim ummah gave their pledge of allegiance to Hazrat Ali (R.A) as the new caliph. It
Imam Hasan received the pledge of allegiance from the people, and was acknowledged as the caliph and the ruler of Kufa, and later of the other Muslim cities.
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) enjoyed a first-rate spiritual power .He was purified from uncleanness, which is stated by the Qur'an. He is one pillar of the blessed family of the holy prophet (PBUH) himself had testified..
wherever he was, to keep away from entering into a war in which blood would be unnecessarily shed, and men killed without result
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) was the target of three aborted attempts. A man shot him with an arrow, while he was offering his prayer. He did not harm him. Hassan (R.A) took place when a man jabbed him with a dagger while he was in prayer.
In the third attempt he narrowly escaped death. A mob attacked him, plundering his tent and taking his prayer-rug from under his feet! During the attack al-Jarrah bin Sinan stabbed him with a rapier in his thigh and gravely wounded him. After that attempt, the Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) was bed-ridden and remained as a guest at the house of Sa'd bin Masood al-Thaqafi, his governor on al-Mada'in.
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) , the grandson of the Holy (PBUH), remained in Kufa for a few days. His heart was wrung by pain for what had happened. He prepared to return to Madina.
When his noble procession set out, all the people of Kufa went out. They were deeply remorseful. They would be humiliated after Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) had departed. Mu'awiyah transferred the caliphate and from Kufa to Damascus. The Umayyad military forces entered Kufa, striking fear into the hearts, and spreading their terror. Those who collaborated with the Urnayyads were rewarded, and those who opposed them were put to the sword.
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) 's caravan set off crossing the desert, when his caravan approached the holy city of Madina, its people rushed to welcome the Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) and his family .
As soon as he settled, Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) and his family set about to take up his religious responsibilities, but on a new line.
He established a great ideological school and leadership so as to be a seat of guidance and knowledge by which the ummah would be guided to the straight path of Allah, and His concluding Message.
That school played an effective part in ripening public opinion, correcting its course, and saving it from the deviation of the official bodies led by Mu'awiyah bin Abu-Sufyan.
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) died in Medina on 7th March 625 A.D .He is buried at Jannatul Baqee. It is written in many books that one of his wives .He had 9 children, Qasim ,Muhammad ibn Hasan ,Fatima; Zayd , Abdullah ,Talha , Maymūnah ,Al-Hasan al-Muth[Hasan had asked for his body to be taken to the prophet's grave, and then to be buried near his mother Hazrat Fatima (R.A_). This caused armed opposition. As the funeral proceeded towards the grave of Muhammad some Umayyads mounted on horses obstructed it. A shower of arrows fell on the coffin. Marwan was the governor of Madina at the time and objected .
