Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) was born in Baha, Yemen in 603 AD on the coast of the Red Sea.
His father had died. As a child, he had a cat and became known as "Abu Hurairah" which means "Father of the Kitten".
Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) embraced Islam through Tufayl ibn Amr who was the chieftain of his tribe.The Holyprophet (PBUH) renamed him Abd al-Rahman . Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) embraced Islam only some days before the battle of Khaibar.In 629 he went to Medina with some others from his tribe. But he could not meet Holy Prophet (PBUH) due to the Battle of Khaybar, His wife and mother was with him.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) prayed for Abu Hurairah’s mother to accept Islam. Allah has answered Holy Prophet (PBUH) ‘s prayer and guided his mother to Islam.
Appearance of Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) had a wide shoulder, brown colored body, a gap between his front two teeth, two pleats of hair dangling, and a beard dyed red.
He had married his former employer, Bushra, and that one of his daughters was married to Saeed ibn al-Musayyib.
Then Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A) happened to show up and he asked him too. But he moved on after answering his question. Finally, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) passed by and realized that I was hungry. He took him into his house. Upon entering, they found that someone had gifted a bowl of milk.
Holy Prophet (PBUH) ordered him to get the Ahl Al-suffah. Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A), was worried that this little bowl and the dozens on the Platform! But when they all came in, in turns, drank from the bowl and left. Then the Holy Prophet (PBUH) made him drink, and drink, and drink.
Once he said to Holy Prophet (PBUH) that he hear a lot from Holy Prophet (PBUH) but he forget.The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Spread your cloak,’. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) moved his hands as if filling it with something and then said, ‘Take it and wrap it around himself.’ He did, and thereafter he forgot nothing that he heard from him.” Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) had an excellent memory.
He teaches the religion of Islam on through narrating the traditions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to the Muslims. once Marwan asked Abu Hurayrah to dictate ahadith . After a year Marwan placed his secretary to sit behind with the older collection and told Abu Hurayrah to dictate the same ahadith once more.Surprisingly Abu Hurayrah did it exactly as he had narrated a year ago.

Hazrat Umar Farooq, however, was not always happy with the Companions narrating ahadith .Once he warned Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A): “Either you will stop narrating Hadith or I’ll exile you to Daws.”
Following the passing of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) , Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) spent the rest of his life teaching hadith in Medina.He was also governor of Medina during the rule of the early Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A) .

Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A) spent one year and ten months with Muhammad in Medina, before the Holy Prophet (PBUH) 's death on 8 June 632 in Medina. like no one else, despite having to pass his days in extreme hunger . He admitted that he went hungry for such long times that he would ask the Companions of Holy Prophet (PBUH) about a verse of the Qur’an in pretention, hoping that the man would take him home for dinner.
