Travel of Imam Hussain (RA) to Karbla part 1

Travel of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) to Karbla

Hazrat Abdullah bin zubair (R.A)
After the death of Hazrat Amir Mu'awiya (R.A) his son Yazid
became the ruler of the Muslims. Some muslims accepted him as a ruler but some companions of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) did not accept him as a ruler of muslims.
When yazid knew it he wrote a letter to Waleed bin Utbah who was governer of madina at that time.In the letter he wrote to convince to accept him. these companions.
Waleed bin Utbah called Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) and Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair. Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) reached governor house with his companions .Marwan who was companion of utbah
spoke up immediately advising utbah that Ask Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) to swear allegiance to Yazid . but Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) was not agreed with them and came back by saying that
Allah Most High is with him.” Then Imam Husain left.
On the other hand Abdullah bin Zubair and his brother left for
Makkah. When Abdullah bin Zubair reached Makkah, some of his supporters were already there and he began living in Makkah with them. After it by tne suggestions of his brothers Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) also left Madina for Mekkah.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar and Abdullah bin Abbas were in Makkah . They were coming towards Madina. Between Makkah to Madina they met Hazrat Imam Husain(R.A) and when they found out that Hazrat Imam Husain was intending to leave for Kufa, They
reminded him of the flick-mindedness and betraying mentality of Kufans. Imam Husain (R.A)
maintained that it was important to tear the mask of Islam from the face of unIslamic rulers,
and to alienate the Muslims from their misguided rulers.
Meanwhile, Yazid found out that The governor of Madina had not forced Imam Husain or
Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair to accept Yazid as the true ruler of the Muslims. He appointed a new governor, Umar bin Sa'id al-Ashraq. The new governor was appointed in the month of Ramadan in the 60th Hijra. As soon as he became The governor he found out that Abdullah bin Zubair and his brother Umar bin Zubair had a conflict between them. He appointed Umar bin Zubair the chief of the police force, and told him to arrest all of his brother’s supporters. He arrested all of them and punished them with 40 to 60
lashes per person.
The governor then send Umar bin Zubair to arrest Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair to Makkah .The governor gave him an army of 700 men . Umar bin Zubair left towards Makkah with his army. When they reached Makkah they camped outside and he sent a messenger to his brother that he had been sent to him to arrest him .But Hazrat  Abdullah bin Zubair was ready fight. Umar bin Zubair’s army was defeated in the battle.
Hazrat  Abdullah bin Zubair told his brother that all of his followers would be lashed in the same wayas Hazrat  Abdullah’s supporters were lashed. After the lashing took place Umar bin Zubair, died.
At that time Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) remained in Mekkah and settled there. Time and time again people used to come to him and tell him about the situation of Kufa and the evil ways of Yazid. At that time Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair was also settled in Makkah and spent much time in the Ka’bah praying and worshiping Allah. Abdullah bin Zubair recognised the higher religious status and elevated rank of Imam Husain and knew that whilst Imam Husain was in Makkah nobody was going to swear allegiance to him as the leader of the Muslims.

Queen bilqees and her throne (Part 3)

palace of queen bilqwees
When the messengers returned with word of what Hazrat sulayman (A.s) said, queen said: `By Allah, I knew he was more than a king, and that we have no power to match him, and that we can gain nothing by being stubborn with him. So, she sent word to him saying: "I am coming to you with the leaders of my people to see what you will instruct us to do and what you are calling us to of your religion.'' Then she issued commands that her throne, which was made of gold and inlaid with rubies, should be placed in the innermost of seven rooms, one within the other, and all the doors should be locked.
Then she told her deputy whom she was leaving in charge, "Take care of my people and my throne, and do not let anyone approach it or see it until I come back to you.'' Then she set off to meet Hazrat sulayman (A.s) with twelve thousand of her commanders from the leaders of Yemen, under each of whose command were many thousands of men.
Hazrat sulayman (A.s) sent the Jinn to bring him news of her progress and route every day and night, then when she drew near, he gathered together the Jinns and humans who were under his control and said
O chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me surrendering themselves in obedience as Muslims.''
An `Ifrit : "A giant Jinn. "It was as if he was a mountain.''from the Jinn said:
I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. And verily, I am indeed strong and trustworthy for such work.. Hazrat sulayman (A.s), upon him be peace, said, "I want it faster than that.''
One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture he was Asif bin Barkhiya' and he was a truthful believer who knew the Greatest Name of Allah, said, “I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye to test whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful. Hazrat sulayman (A.s) said: "Verily, it is a Sarh Mumarrad of Qawarir.'' She said: ''I have wronged myself, and I submit, together with Hazrat sulayman (A.s) to Allah, the Lord of all that exits.''

palace of queen bilqwees
When Hazrat sulayman (A.s) brought the throne of Bilqis before she and her people arrived, he issued orders that some of its features should be altered, so that he could test her and see whether she recognized it and how composed she would be when she saw it. Would she hasten to say either that it was her throne or that it was not So he said:
"Remove some of its adornments and parts.'' "He issued orders that it should be changed, so whatever was red should be made yellow and vice versa, and whatever was green should be made red, so everything was altered.
So when she came, it was said: "Is your throne like this'' Her throne, which had been altered and disguised, with some things added and others taken away, was shown to her. She was wise and intelligent and strong-willed. She did not hasten to say that this was her throne.
And Saddaha that which she used to worship besides Allah has prevented her, for she was of a disbelieving people.
Hazrat sulayman (A.s) had commanded the Shaytan to build for her a huge palace of glass beneath which water was flowing. . Hazrat sulayman (A.s) built a huge, lofty palace of glass for this queen, in order to show her the greatness of his authority and power.Anyone who did not know the nature of the building (As-Sarh'' ) would think that it was water, but in fact there was a layer of glass between a person walking and the water.
It was said to her:

"Enter As-Sarh'' but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she tucked up her clothes uncovering her legs. When she saw for herself what Allah had given him and how majestic his position was, she submitted to the command of Allah and acknowledged that he was a noble Prophet, so she submitted to Allah and said
My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself.and I submit, together with Hazrat sulayman (A.s) to Allah, the Lord of all that exists

The holy prophet therefore ,took the oath of allegiance from all to take revenge of the rumoured martyrdom of Hazrat usman ghani (Razi –Allah tallah – Anhu) , However . the rumour turned to be false later on .
Hazrat usman’s martyrdom

While Hazrat usman
(R.A)was busy setting the deteriorated conditions aright , the rebles of basra ,koofa and Egypt were busy in attacking Madina . After the Hajj in 34 A.H ,three groups of the rebles who had entered Madina under the pretext of Hajj , stayed out of Madina and busied themselves inexecution of the plan for killing Hazrat Usman(R.A) .
A few days after Hazrat usman (R.A) was stoned by the opponents when he was addressing the congregational audience On Hazrat Ali’s
(R.A) advice Hazrat usman(R.A) deputed 60 Muhajirs and Ansar to persuad the rebles to leave Madina .
A few days later rebles from egypt again enterd Madina Quite unexpectedly. On an enquiry by Hazrat Musalima ,the rebles reported that they had found a government messenger carrying an order of Hazrat usman addressed to the governor of Egypt advising him to kill all rebles. But Hazrat usman said that he was un aware of all this matter. He orderd his well-wishers to keep quite and not to use force to kill his opponents simply to avoide shedding the bloodof muslims for his sake
It was Friday when Hazrat usman changed his clothes and observed fast . He freed twenty slaves . Hazrat imam hussain , Abdullah bin zubair and Muhammad bin muslim with some other sonsof the companions of the prophet wer keeping guard at the main gate of his house .

They hesitated to attack him . However , Muhammad bin Abi bakr , who was one of caliph’s deadliest enemies ,caught his beard and began to abuse him. Hazrat usman asked him toleave his beard saying ‘ O my dear son ,o my brother ,had your father been alive he must have reprimanded you for his inhuman act”. Another man came forward and kicked away the holy Qurran .
Then kanana bin baser wounded the fore head of the caliph with an iron rod. He fell down and and lay unconscious .Blood began to flow profusely and got even sprinkled over the holy Qurran. Soon after another reble sprang on his beard and stabbed him several time. The caliph’s wife Hazrat Naila , rushed to save her husband. In the ensuing scuffle her three fingers were chopped off . Thereafter another person pounced upon the caliph and gave him the last fatal blow.

There are four who will present their case on the Day of Resurrection

There are four who will present their case on the Day of Resurrection

Those people to whome messangers did not arrive will present there case before God on the Day of Resurrection as Allah says in
Bani-'Is-raa-'iil verse 15 ,'' Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of himself. And whoever goes astray, then he goes astray at his own loss. No one laden with burdens can bear another's burden. And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger to give warning."
Allah tells us that No one will have to bear the sins of another.
Allah tells us that out of His justice, He does not punish anyone until He has established proof against him by sending a Messenger to him, as He says in surah Mulk verse 8 and 9 ٍ“Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask "Did no warner come to you'' They will say: "Yes, indeed a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: `Allah never sent down anything of revelation; you are only in great error.”
Similarly Allah says in surrah Zumar, “And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened. And its keepers will say, "Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves - reciting to you the verses of your Lord, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours'' They will say: "Yes,'' but the Word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers!”
Allah says in surah Fatir verse 37 ,“There in they will cry: "Our Lord! Bring us out, we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do.'' "Did We not give you lives long enough, so that whosoever would receive admonition could receive it And the warner came to you. So taste you (the evil of your deeds. For the wrongdoers there is no helper.
There are four who will present their case on the Day of Resurrection
A question arises that what will happen to the insane, the deaf, the senile and those who die during the circumstances of Fatrah in the day.
Fatrah
A time when no Message of God reached to human beings.
Hadith #1
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said,
There are four who will present their case on the Day of Resurrection: a deaf man who never heard anything, an insane man, a very old and senile man, and a man who died during the Fatrah.
Deaf man
The deaf man, he will say, "O Lord, Islam came but I never heard anything.
Insane man(mently ill)
As for the insane man, he will say, "O Lord, Islam came and the young boys were throwing camel dung at me.
Senile man(an old man with loss of mental faculties)
'' As for the senile man, he will say, "O Lord, Islam came and I did not understand anything.''
Fatrah(time of ignorance)
As for the one who died during the Fatrah, he will say, "O Lord, no Messenger from You came to me.''
Allah will accept their pledge of obedience to Him, then He will send word to them that they should enter the Fire. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, if they enter it, it will be cool and safe for them.
Al-Bayhaqi in Al-I`tiqad
Hadith #2
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
Every newborn is born in a state of Fitrah .
One asked him(PBUH)
“what about those who die when they are little'' He said,
Allah knows best what they would have done.) Imam Ahmad reported from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet I know - the narrator was not sure if it was attributed to Musa - said
“The children of the Muslims are in Paradise, being taken care of by Ibrahim.
The Messenger of Allah said that Allah said
I have created My servants as Hunafa.
Sahih Muslim

Hazrat Yusuf (A.S) in Aziz miser's palace

Hazrat Yusuf (A.S)  in Aziz miser's palace

The man who bought Yusuf was the minister of Egypt at the time, and his title was `Aziz'. He take care of him and provide him with a comfortable life. He also ordered his wife to be kind to Yusuf.

Aziz Miser'spalace

The wife of the `Aziz of Egypt whose name was Zulaikha, in whose house Yusuf resided and whose husband recommended that she takes care of him tried to seduce Yusuf! .She called him to do an evil act with her, because she loved him very much. Yusuf was very handsome, filled with manhood and beauty. She beautified herself for him, closed the doors and called yusuf. But Yusuf said to her that her husband was his master who provided him with comfortable living and was kind to him, so he would never betrayed him by committing sins with his wife.
So they raced with one another to the door, Yusuf running away from her and her running after him to bring him back to the room. She caught up with him and held on to his shirt from the back, tearing it so terribly that it fell off Yusuf's back. Yusuf continued running from her, with her in pursuit. However, They both found her master at the door. She said that What was the punishment for him who intended an evil design against his wife., except that he be put in prison .
Yusuf did not stand idle, but he declared the truth and exonerated himself from the betrayal she accused him of.
Then a witness of her household said, "If it be that his shirt is torn from the front, not from the back, then her tale is true that he tried to commit an evil act with her. Had he called her to have evil act with him and she refused, she would have pushed him away from her and tore his shirt from the front. But if it be that his shirt is torn from the back, then she has told a lie and he is speaking the truth!. Had Yusuf run away from her, and this is what truly happened, and she set in his pursuit, she would have held to his shirt from the back to bring him back to her, thus tearing his shirt from the back.
Witness was a young boy who lived in the `Aziz's house.
So when he saw Yusuf's shirt torn at the back, indicates that when her husband became certain that Yusuf was telling the truth and that his wife was lying . The `Aziz ordered Yusuf to Turn away from this and do not mention to anyone what has happened, The `Aziz was an easy man, or gave excuse to his wife because she saw in Yusuf an appeal she could not resist.
He said to her, `Ask forgiveness for your sin, the evil desire that you wanted to satisfy with this young man, and then inventing false accusations about him.
The news of what happened between the wife of the `Aziz and Yusuf spread in the city and people talked about it.
women in the city such as women of chiefs and princes said, while admonishing and criticizing the wife of the `Aziz.
So when she heard of their accusation especially their statement, "indeed she loves him violently. They heard of Yusuf's beauty and wanted to see him, so they said these words in order to get a look at him. '' This is when, She invited them to her house
and she prepared a sitting room which had couches, and food that requires knives. she gave each one of them a knife, as a part of her plan of revenge for their plot to see Yusuf.
Then she had asked him to stay somewhere else in the house when he went out and, Women saw him, they exalted him. they thought highly of him and were astonished at what they saw. They started cutting their hands in amazement at his beauty, while thinking that they were cutting the citron with their knives. Therefore, they injured their hands with the knives. Others said that after they ate and felt comfortable, and after having placed citron in front of them, giving each one of them a knife, the wife of the `Aziz asked them, So she sent for him to come in front of them and when they saw him, they started cutting their hands. She ordered him to keep coming and going, so that they saw him from all sides, and he went back in while they were still cutting their hands. When they felt the pain, they started screaming and she said to them.
This is none other than a noble angel. They said to her,We do not blame you anymore after the sight that we saw. They never saw anyone like Yusuf before was given half of all beauty.
Yusuf was immune from error by Allah's will, and He saved him from accepting the advances of the wife of the `Aziz'. He preferred prison, rather than accept her illicit call. This indicates the best and most perfect grade in this case, for Yusuf was youthful, beautiful and full of manhood. His master's wife was calling him to herself, and she was the wife of the `Aziz of Egypt. She was also very beautiful and wealthy, as well as having a great social rank. He refused all this and preferred prison, for he feared Allah and hoped to earn His reward.

Masjid Quba'

Before the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) migrated to Al-Madinah, there was a man from Al-Khazraj called "Abu `Amir. Abu `Amir was known for being a notable person among Al-Khazraj. When the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) arrived at Al-Madinah , Abu `Amir fled from Al-Madinah to Quraysh in Makkah to support them in the war against the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) . The Quraysh united their forces for the battle of Uhud .
Abu `Amir dug many holes in the ground between the two camps, into one of which Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) fell, injuring his face and breaking one of his right lower teeth. He also sustained a head injury. Before the fighting started, Abu `Amir approached his people among the Ansar and tried to convince them to support him but They cursed him and he went back declaring, "By Allah! Evil has touched my people after I left.'' The Messenger of Allah called Abu `Amir to Allah and recited the Qur'an to him before his flight to Makkah, but he refused to embrace Islam .
After the battle of Uhud was finished, Abu `Amir realized that the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) call was still rising and gaining momentum, so he went to Heraclius, the emperor of Rome, asking for his aid against the Prophet .
Heraclius gave him promises and Abu `Amir remained with him.He also wrote to several of his people in Al-Madinah, who em braced hypocrisy, promising them that he will lead an army to fight the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) to defeat him and his call.
These hypocrites built a Masjid next to the Masjid in Quba', and they finished building it before the Messenger went to Tabuk. They went to the Messenger inviting him to pray in their Masjid so that it would be a proof that the Messenger approved of their Masjid. They told him that they built the Masjid for the weak and ill persons on rainy nights. However, Allah prevented His Messenger from praying in that Masjid.
When the Messenger of Allah came back from Tabuk and was approximately one or two days away from Al-Madinah, Jibril came down to him with the news about Masjid Ad-Dirar . Therefore, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) sent some people to Masjid Ad-Dirar to bring it down before he reached Al-Madinah.
"They are some people of the Ansar to whom Abu `Amir said, `Build a Masjid and prepare whatever you can of power and weapons, for I am headed towards Caesar, emperor of Rome, to bring Roman soldiers with whom I will expel Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions.' When they built their Masjid, they went to the Prophet and said to him, "We finished building our Masjid and we would like you pray in it and invoke Allah for us for His blessings.''Allah revealed this verse.
They made it an outpost for those who warred against Allah and His Messenger .

Allah encouraged His Prophet to pray in Masjid Quba

How Fir`awn drowned

How Fir`awn drowned

Mastabat Fira'wn

The Children of Israel left Egypt in the company of Hazrat Musa (A.S). It was said that there were six hundred thousand soldiers, plus offspring. They borrowed a lot of ornaments and took that with them. Fir`awn was very angry with them. He was filled with great pride and with massive armies. No one that had any authority remained behind in Fir`awn's kingdom. They were all together . The companions of Hazrat Musa (A.S) said: "We are sure to be overtaken. When The two groups met face to face. The people with Hazrat  Musa kept asking, "How can we be saved today'' Hazrat Musa (A.S) replied, Nay, verily, with me is my Lord. He will guide me. It had been so difficult, but it suddenly became easy. Allah commanded him to strike a dry path for them in the sea .He did and the sea was cleft asunder, each part stood like a mighty mountain.
The sea was split into twelve paths, each route for each Israelite tribe. Allah then commanded the wind and the path was dry for them. The water in between the paths appeared as windows and every tribe was able to see the other so they would not think that others were destroyed.
The Children of Israel crossed the sea. When the last one crossed, Fir`awn and his soldiers had arrived at the edge of the other shore. There were one hundred thousand black horses . Fir`awn was frightened when he saw the see. He wanted to turn back. The prayer of Hazrat Musa (A.S) was answered. Hazrat  Jibril (A.S) passed by Fir`awn's horse. And then Jibril rushed into the sea, and Fir`awn did the same behind him. Hazrat  Jibril (A.S) no longer had any control .
He said: "O ‘people do not have more right in the sea.'' So they rushed into the sea. When they all were in the sea and the first of them was about to emerge on the other side, Allah, the commanded the sea to strand them. The sea closed over them . The waves accumulated above Fir`awn and he was overwhelmed by the stupors of death. At that time he said:
“I believe that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims.

Some of the Children of Israel doubted the death of Fir`awn so Allah commanded the sea to throw his body. . The body was thrown to a high place on the land so that the Children of Israel could confirm his death ''

Hadith

Allah's Messenger said;
“Jibril said to me, "If you could have seen me while I was taking black mud from the sea and placing into the mouth of Fir`awn out of fear that the mercy would reach him.'' anger.
Fir`awn and his people were destroyed on the day of `Ashura'.When the Prophet arrived at Al-Madinah he asked,
What is this day that you are fasting) They responded `This is the day in which Hazrat Musa (A.S) was victorious over Fir`awn.' So the Prophet said,
“You have more right to Hazrat Musa (A.S) than they, so fast it.”

Emhessary of `Admam(stories from qurran)

Story of the Emhessary of `Admam

Once A companion of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh)

Mosque Nabvi(PBUH)
Al-Harheth Al-Bakri went to the Messenger of Allah to complain to him about Al-`Ala bhen Al-Hadrami. When he passed by the area of Ar-Rabdhah, he found an old woman from Bani Tamim . She said to him, "O servant of Allah! I need to reach the Messenger of Allah to ask him for some of my needs. So he took her along with him to Al-Madinah and found the Masjid full of people.
He also found a black flag raised high. Bilal was holdheng a sword before the Messenger of Allah . He asked, "What is the matter with the people'' They said, "The Prophet intends to send `Amr bin Al-`As (on a military expedition somewhere.''
So he sat down. When the Prophet went to his house, he asked for permissheon to see him, and he gave him permission. He entered and greeted him. He said, "Was there a dispute between you and Bani Tamim'' he said, "Yes.
And we had been victorious over them. He passed by an old woman from Bani Tamim, who was alone, and she asked me to bring her to you. she is at the door''. So he (pbuh) allowed her in .she said, "O Allah's Messenger! What if you make a barrier between us and the tribe of) Bani Tamim Desert. The old woman became angry and opposed me.
So he said, "My example is the example of a sheep that carried its own destruction. He carried this woman and did not know that she was an opponent. she seek refuge with Allah and His Messenger that he become like the emhessary of `Ad.'

Emhessary of `Ad.

( bringheng disaster and utter destruction to them instead of relief)
So the Prophet asked me about the embessary of `Ad, having better knowledge in it, but he liked to hear the story again. He said, "Once, `Ad suffered from a famine and they sent an emhessary to get relief ﴾, whose name was Qayl. Qayl passed by Mu`awiyah bin Bakr and stayed with him for a month. Mu`awiyah supplied him with alcoholic drinks.
Two female singers were singing for him. When a month ended, Qayl went to the mountains and said, `O Allah! You know that he did not come here to cure an hell person O Allah! Give `Ad water as You used to.'So black clouds came and he was called, `Choose which one of them you wish .
So he pointed to one of the black clouds and he heard someone proclaiming from het, `Take it, as asis that will leave none in `Ad.' has been conveyed to me that the wind sent to them was no more than what would pass through this ring of mine, but it destroyed them.'' Abu Wa'hel said, "That is true. When a man or a woman would send an emhessary, they would tell him, `Do not be like the emissary of `Ad bringing disaster and utter destruction to them instead of relief.,''

Travel of Imam Hussain part 5

Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) in valley of Karbla

River Euphrates near Karbla

At a place near the Euphrates, the Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A)’s steed suddenly stopped and in spite of the unusual spurring, the animal did not move. Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) changed six horses one after another but none of the animals moved from the spot.
Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) ordered the caravan to be stopped and declared that the journey had ended as he had arrived at the desired destination. Tents were ordered to be pitched .
Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) gathered the people of the surrounding places, the owners of the plain of Karbala, and
purchasing the land from them gifted the same to the people of Banu Asad.
The Brute Ibn Ziyad at Kufa got the information of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A)’s getting out of the control of Hurr and also learnt that Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) had camped near the river Euphrates known as the Al-Qama.
On the 3rd of Muharram Ubayd Allah bin Ziyad sent an army counting four thousand led by Umar bin Saad Abi Waqqas were the first to move towards Karbala. His orders were to get Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) to surrender to Yazid. When Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) refused, Umar bin Saad told Ubayd Allah bin Ziyad to send more troops. Ubayd Allah bin Ziyad ordered all the men in Kufa to come out and join the army to fight against Hussain.
People began to pour in on the plain of Karbala from all sides until they were 30,000) thirty thousand and ultimately the enemy’s forces compelled Hussain to shift his camp from the bank of the river to the interior of the burning desert.
When the enemy wished to march towards the Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A)’s camp, the brave Abbas at once drew his sword and stood firm and shouted
Knowing the bravery, valor, and prowess of the valiant bin Ali, the Lion of God, none cared to step
forward. But Hussain called his Brother saying:
“Brother Abbas! Let not bloodshed be initiated from our side. Let them occupy any place they like.
They call themselves my Grandfather’s followers. Let them enjoy every comfort they want. We shall
suffer for them, being away from the water. When God is with us, Brother, what if, the river is far away
from us.”
When the whole plain of Karbala was full with Yazid’s regiments and the Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A)’s camp was totally surrounded by the enemy’s forces, Bin Saad the Commander of the Brute armies met Imam Hussain on the banks of the river and demanded ‘allegiance’ on behalf of the tyrant Yazid .
river euphrates

Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) firmly refused to pay the ‘allegiance.
At last on the 7th Muharram 61 Hijra the Commander of Yazid’s forces received orders to cut off all
sources of supply to the Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A)’s camp and not allow even a drop of water to reach any of the inmates therein. It can better be imagined than described what the condition of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A)’s camp would have been under the scorching Arabian sun. The camp was in the midst of the burning
desert, with the heat-waves
The unavailability of water, with nothing to feed even the young children. Hurr remembered how kind Imam Hussain was when he needed water. He asked Umar bin Saad to give water to Imam Hussain’s camp or at least to the children, but Umar bin Saad showed no pity.
Access to water had been closed for three days and nights, but during this time they had been able to get some water on one or two occasions.

Travel of Imam Hussain to karbla (part 4)

Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A)'s arrival at  Karbala

karbla
Haseen bin Numear was put in charge of the police and was ordered to stop people entering Kufa. He found out that Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) was very near Kufa and appointed Hur the leader of an army of 1,000 men, sending him towards Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) to arrest him . When Hur reached Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) he told his men to surround him . Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) instructed his people to set up camp there, and upon noticing this Hur also commanded his army to camp in the area and keep Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) and his followers surrounded . Both groups stayed in their respective camps. The time for Zohar prayer approached, and Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) came out of his tent and approached Hur, telling him:
"I did not come here of my own wish but was called by the people of Kufa. They sent me letters and even came in person to invite me to Kufa.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) then went back to his camp and prepared to lead the Zohar prayer. Hur and his
army also performed the prayer behind Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A). Similarly, when the time for Asr prayer arrived, Imam Husain led Hur and his army as well as his own followers in prayer. After performing the
prayer, Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) addressed Hur and his army, saying:
"O people, fear Allah (swt) and recognise the truth so that Allah will be pleased with you.
Recognise the messages that were sent to me, then let me and my people return to Makkah."
Hur said “I have been ordered to arrest you and take you to the governor of Kufa.”
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) told all his people to gather their belongings and prepare to return to Makkah.
Upon hearing this Hur ordered his men to surround Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) and his people and forceyfully take them to Kufa if they refused to go voluntarily.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) saw four or five people approaching him on camels at a distance from the
direction of Kufa.
Nafi' bin Hilal, one of the four men who came from Kufa, told that the well-to-do people of Kufa had been bought by Ibn- ziad and had turned against him and the poor people of Kufa had also left him because of the fear of the governor but in their hearts they were still with him. Nafi’ then went on to explain what had happened to Qais and Baqtr, and how the
governor had executed them. Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) was hurt and saddened too deeply to stop them flowing.
Another person who had come was Tarmah bin Addi. He advised Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) that because
he did not have a large number of people with him to defeat the governor and his men, he should go with him to a place which was safe from attack because it was behind a mountain and his own tribe of more than 20,000 people would do everything in their power to help Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A). After realising that Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) would not consider going with him Tarmah left. Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) continued heading towards Kufa and reached a place called Qasr Bani Muqatil by evening. In the morning Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) and his people performed Fajar prayer and decided to go back to Makkah, but Hur and his army would not let them move towards Makkah. After some time, they reached a place called Nineveh. When the Imam’s caravan came near this place, they saw a man on a horse coming towards them. He was carrying a message from Ubayd Allah Ziya to Hurr bin Yazid Al-Riyahi.
It was written in letter that “Be firm with Hussain. When you read my letter, do not let him camp anywhere but in the desert where there is no water and no fortification.”
The Imam said, “Then, let us go to Nainawa .
Then, the Imam asked Hurr to let him go a little bit further. Hurr bin Yazid Al-Riyahi agreed and the Imam’s caravan went with Hurr’s troops following behind until they reached Karbala . The day, Holy Imam’s caravan reached Karbala was 2nd of Muharram, 61 Hijra.

Imam's way to kuffa

Travel of Imam Hussain to Karbla

Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) received Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel (R.A)’s letter, in which he had written that more than
18,000 people had sworn allegiance to him and the numbers were increasiung daily, and had encouraged him to come to Kufa Imamediately. After reading this letter Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) firmly decided to leave for Kufa.
The people again tried to reminding him that the Kufans could not be trusted and would turn against him at any time. But
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) replied saying “Our Prophet (p.b.u.h.) has said that one day the Kabah will be insulted by a lamb man and I do not want to be that lamb person that is why I am leaving Makkah.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) gathered all his family members and his friends and followers who were going
with him and left for Kufa. When the governor of Makkah, Amir bin Sa'id, found out about Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A)’s decision, he tried to stop him. He sent his police to stop and arrest Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A). There was a greater struggle between the two sides, but eventually Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) and his supporters were
able to defeat the police and continue with their journey to Kufa.
During the journey, Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) met with a poet called Farzooq who was on his way. He told ,'' The people’s hearts are still with you, but because of the fear of Yazid, their swords are with Yazid.
Abdullah bin Jaffer was in Makkah. He was the brother in-law of Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) as he was married to Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A)’s sister,Zainab. When he found out that Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) had left Makkah and gone to Kufa, he wrote a letter and sent it to him with his two sons, Oun and Muhammad. After that they carried on with the journey to Kufa and he took his nephews with him.
Qais bin Mush'ir was one of the people with Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A). Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) send a letter to leaders of the tribes of Kufa in the hand of Qais . When Qais was on the entrance of the gate of Kufa, the governor’s men arrested him and took him to the governor.
The governor read the letter and told him that he was going to execute him unless he climbed
on top of the house and shouted abuse to Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) so that everyone could hear. Only
then will he forgive him and spare his life.” Qais got on top of the roof and started to shout,
“O people listen to me. Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) has arrived and is very near Kufa. Obey him, as his mother was the daughter of our Prophet (p.b.u.h.) and his father was Sayyiduna Ali(R.A) , and governer is a liar and a cheat.” When the governor heard this he ordered his men to throw Qais off the roof. One of the governor’s men pushed Qais off the roof; and he fell so
hard that both his arms and legs were broken and he split his skull open, as a result of which he was martyred.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) continued with his journey and sent another person named Abdullah bin Baqtr,
with a similar letter to take to Kufa and give to the leaders of the tribes. He was also arrested and taken to the governor and executed in the same way as Qais was.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) found out about Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel (R.A)’s death at a place called Tha‘labiyya where he met a person who had recently come from Kufa. He explained in great detail to what had
been happening in Kufa.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A), for a moment, began to reconsider his decision to go to Kufa. At the same time Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel (R.A)’s sons rose and said, “We swear by Allah Most High that we will seek revenge on behalf of our father or die in the attempt and we will not leave until then.
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) started to head towards Kufa.
Then Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) and his group came to a place called Zubala, there he received information about the death of the two representatives whom he had sent earlier to
Kufa. (Qais and Baqtr). When Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) heard this he was greatly saddened . He gathered the people together and told them about the problems that they
were going to face when they reached Kufa. He also said, “ many of you might want to leave and can gladly do so.” A lot of people started to disperse slowly until the only people left were those who had initially come with
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) from Makkah.
They continued with the journey, and met a person called Abdullah bin Muti’. He said the same about Kufa.
Now they were very near to kuffa.
